Agree how success will be measured before you start
Write down the numbers the engagement will be judged on, plus the conditions the client has to meet for you to stand behind a result. Expectations stated at the outset cannot drift later, and the checklist screens out projects you would have failed at anyway.
The method
- 01
Agree KPIs with the client at the start so the outcome you are being judged on is measurable and expectations cannot drift.
- 02
Write a checklist of conditions the client must meet before you will guarantee a result, covering product quality, fit with the market and how recently they last approached the same audience.
What it returned
One condition Brad set was a slot on the client's email schedule, without which he could not activate their affiliates.
