Pitch the people posting the job you replace

Freelance boards list buyers who have already admitted the problem and set aside money for it. Watch for your keyword, then reply offering the software instead of the hire, which takes seconds per pitch and converts unusually well.

The method

  1. 01

Automate the job-board watch with an RSS feed on your keyword piped through IFTTT into an email alert, then reply with a canned pitch offering the app in place of the gig.

  2. 02

When your app replaces work people currently hire out, monitor freelance job boards and pitch the people posting those jobs on buying the software instead of hiring anyone.

What it returned

  • 30

Two large freelance sites allowed keyword RSS feeds; each pitch took about 30 seconds and converted at a fairly high rate

  • The author opened accounts on every freelance marketplace he could find, including oDesk and Elance, and applied to jobs mentioning a store locator
