Recruit the first users from people who know you

Warm contacts will agree to an untested thing that strangers will not, so start with former colleagues, existing customers and family before building any acquisition channel. Keep that first group small enough to walk every one of them through setup by hand.

   Getting your first users is usually easier than expected as long as you are prepared to ask the people already around you.

   Recruit your first outside users by asking people you already know, and hand-hold each one through getting their data in.

   Source those beta clients from people who already know you, since warm contacts agree to an untested offer far more readily than strangers.

   Cap the first cohort of a new service at a handful of beta clients and use them to refine the process before trying to sell it at volume.
