Announce the rate rise with an exit attached
Tell existing clients what is changing about the work, not just the price, and offer to help them move to somebody else if they do not see the added value by the time the new rate starts. Naming the way out removes the risk they would otherwise argue about.
The method
- 01
Include an exit in the same message: if they do not see the added value by the time the new price starts, you will help them move to another freelancer. That removes the risk objection.
- 02
Tell existing clients you are changing what you deliver, that projects will now be judged on whether they produce a return rather than on being technically correct, and that prices go up across the board as a result.
