Put the run-up in a sequence, not in broadcasts

Anything sent as a one-off is invisible to everyone who subscribes afterwards, so the biggest list you will ever have has seen the least of your best work. Putting each pre-launch email into a timed sequence means a subscriber who arrives in the final week still receives the whole build-up in order.

The method

  1. 01

Stop pushing your pre-launch content out as one-off broadcasts and put every email into a timed sequence instead, so anyone who joins later still receives all of it.

  2. 02

Add each newly published post as the next lesson in the sequence at a day offset; existing subscribers past that day get caught up as if it were a broadcast while new ones receive it in order.

  3. 03

Recognise the arithmetic of broadcasting: the subscribers a post earns you can never receive that post, so the bigger your list grows the smaller the share that has seen your best work.

What it returned

  • 1

Post A on day 1, Post B on day 5

  • 100

100 subscribers, then 300 more from Post A, then 300 more from Post B: the final 300 never got Post A and mostly do not know it exists
