Offer something physical for the signup
Stickers, a printed checklist or a posted note make joining a list feel like receiving a gift rather than agreeing to receive advertising. Asking for a postal address at the same time turns a subscriber into someone you can surprise later.
The method
- 01
Offer a physical item as the incentive for joining your email list - stickers, a pocket notebook, temporary tattoos, printed photos, a printed checklist for the wall, a poster or a postcard - and ask for a mailing address.
What it returned
The Product Hunt team hand-wrote cards of thanks and posted them to its earliest community members; the game Firewatch let players order prints of the photos they took in-game.
