a single source, nothing corroborates it
List every reason it is not selling, then test them
Write out each candidate explanation for the missing revenue, market size, price, design, free tier, rate how plausible each one is, and define the test that would settle it. Done honestly the answer is often that the thing has simply not been marketed yet, which is cheaper to fix than any of the alternatives.
The method
- 01
When a product is not selling, write down every reason you think it is failing and interrogate each one; often the honest answer is that you have not marketed it yet.
- 02
Attack a struggling product by writing down every candidate explanation for the lack of revenue, rating how plausible each one is, and defining the test that would settle it, rather than guessing at one fix.
What it returned
- $0
Zue enumerated six hypotheses for his $0 revenue, from market size through free tier, design quality, price point and revenue model to funnel volume, and picked funnel volume as the biggest lever
Months into Place Card Me earning nothing, Zue listed every reason it was not working, judged none of them valid, redoubled his marketing and made his first sale a few weeks later.
