a single source, nothing corroborates it
Edit the sequence, because it sends again tomorrow
A broadcast cannot be recalled once it has gone, while a sequence email is worth fixing because every future subscriber will receive the corrected version. That also means dated launch language has to be stripped afterwards, and anything added far down the run reaches everyone already past that day as though broadcast.
The method
- 01
Sequence emails are worth editing because they send again to every new subscriber, whereas a broadcast is unrecoverable the moment it goes out.
- 02
Adding a new email far down the sequence sends it broadcast-style to everyone already past that day, including subscribers of several years.
- 03
Slot even seasonal promotions into the sequence at the appropriate day rather than sending them once, so they keep firing every year.
- 04
After the launch, go back and strip the dated language out of the sequence, and either delete the open-and-close discount emails or rewrite them so they read sensibly for months afterwards.
- 05
Use the quiet period after launch to rework the sequence's calls to action and add testimonials, since that is where future revenue comes from.
What it returned

He adds emails at around day 72
A typo in one broadcast drew about a dozen emails from readers and nothing could be done about it
A New Year email for his habit app Commit, added to a course instead of broadcast
Justin's comparison: a blog post is a single file on a server you can edit or delete, whereas replacing an MP3 in a feed does not remove the version already downloaded, and a screenshotted tweet spreads beyond your control.
