Automate the sequence so you can run it again

The hard part of a launch is coordination, and once it is written down as an automation the same build-up can be replayed on the next batch of subscribers months later without producing anything live. It also means a person who joins in the final week receives the build-up in order rather than a cold pitch.

The method

  1. 01

Write the launch sequence once, then automate and save it so you can replay the whole thing on the next batch of subscribers six months later

  2. 02

On the second run of a launch, press play on the sequence you already wrote instead of producing material live.

  3. 03

Either time the launch sequence to each subscriber automatically, or let subscribers pool up and start them in batches so a crowd receives it together

  4. 04

Sequencing means a subscriber who arrives near the end of a two-month launch build-up still gets the pitch in the right order rather than a cold sales email.

  5. 05

Keep three launch-mechanics emails at the end, opening, reminder, closing, and it is fine to send those as broadcasts.

What it returned

  • The core lesson from three years of selling products is that subscribers buy during launches, and the coordination is what makes launches hard

  • The first cohort's course material was written as it went; the second only needed a few tweaks

  • A launch build-up typically takes a couple of months to assemble
