Put a published closing hour on the launch price
Discount every tier for the opening window and switch to list prices at a stated hour, so the end of the launch is defined by the price going up rather than the product vanishing. Long windows simply get postponed to their final day, which is why the operators who measured it keep the buying period to seventy two hours at most and often twenty four. If you close a cart, genuinely keep it closed for months, or the next opening carries no weight.
The method
- 01
Discount every tier for the opening window only, then switch to list prices
- 02
Give the launch a five-day discount window across every tier rather than a single frantic day
- 03
Give the launch window a published end date, defined by the price going up rather than the product disappearing
- 04
Keep the buying window short, 72 hours as an absolute maximum, and often just 24, because a long window simply gets postponed to its final day.
- 05
Closing the cart at a preset hour creates urgency without discounting, at the cost of the post-launch tail; it fits products you intend to reopen periodically.
What it returned
- $29
Sale prices of $29/$79/$199/$799 held for 36 hours against list prices of $39/$99/$249/$999, so most orders came in at the sale price
- 25%
Rock and Roll with Ember.js ran 25% off all packages for five days and took $6,175 by the fifth day, $9,651 in the first month, $1,951 in month two and $1,396 in month three
- 13
Give people two weeks and they will act on day 13
Launch ran from that morning until June 3rd, when prices increased
