Re-aim one durable claim at today's worry
Rewriting the whole story every time the market moves throws away recognition you already paid for. Keep one construction that describes what you do and re-point it at whatever has just become urgent, whether that is a regulator's ruling, a squeeze on spending or a new anxiety in the trade. Wording it loosely enough to survive your own product changes saves the same rewrite later.
The method
- 01
Keep one durable value claim and re-point it at whichever category or urgent buyer priority is current, rather than rewriting the whole story each time.
- 02
Hook the pitch to what your market is anxious about right now, so the reason to care is already in their head.
- 03
When conditions change, reposition on the benefit that survives them. Convenience is the first promise to lose its appeal when buyers start watching their money, and trust is the one that lasts.
- 04
When a regulator tells the market to find an alternative, state in one sentence why you qualify, naming the feature and the legal basis.
- 05
Word your service descriptions so they stay current, otherwise every change to your offering forces a rewrite of the sales material.
What it returned
- 19
Teleport reused the same 'doesn't get in the way' construction across Privileged Access Management, then Zero Trust, then remote access when COVID-19 made it a priority.
- 19
Scite frames its value against trust in COVID-19 studies and the need to check whether ChatGPT output is factual, neither of which existed when it started on reproducibility.
- 2022
After France's CNIL ruled against Google Analytics in February 2022 and advised switching to a tool that keeps data inside the EU, Fathom pointed to its EU Isolation launch the year before and to Canada's adequacy status; Google Analytics was on roughly 85% of the internet at the time.
My Auto Shop moved from a pitch about collecting your car so you need not visit the garage to a pitch that the garages are vetted so the price is fair, and the founder now doubts customers will pay for the pick up at all.
