Print the slogan, not the logo
A logo is rarely the most interesting thing you could put on a shirt, and a shirt nobody would wear without the brand on it does no work. Print the line your readers already recognise and keep the mark small, using the back for anything secondary, so the garment earns its place in someone's wardrobe on merit.
The method
- 01
Print a joke, slogan or in-group line your readers recognise instead of defaulting to your logo, since the logo is rarely the most interesting thing you could put on a shirt.
- 02
Do not print your logo on a shirt: print a slogan someone would wear even without the brand on it.
- 03
Put the slogan on the front, keep the logo small, and use the back for a secondary line.
What it returned
One of the strongest merch rewards SparkLoop has seen printed a much-loved line from the newsletter Everyone Hates Marketers.
His mastermind group told him a logo-only shirt was not worth the money; he chose one slogan about teaching everything you know from three candidates
